Miniature Railway and Model Boats:
1st & 3rd Sundays between 1pm and 4pm

M.A.M.S is a non-profit organization. Our members build and operate model aircraft, boats and trains. We are based at Brayshaw Park, Blenheim NZ, having our Clubrooms, Miniature Railway, and Model Boat pond there. Running days for the Miniature Railway and model boats are on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month from 1pm to 4pm weather permitting.

The Model Aircraft Section of MAMS operates at a Flying site leased from the Marlborough District Council beside the Wairau river near Tuamarina. Club power flying days are Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday mornings (9am to 12 noon), and glider flying Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Model Boating

The Model Boating Section operates at the Boat Pond at Brayshaw Park. The boat pond is suitable for scale electric models and smaller classes of Yachts, the pond is too shallow for the larger deeper keel classes of yacht, and too small for the faster types of powerboats. Sailing is usually on the first and third Sunday of every month, from 1pm until 4pm. There are pond yachts (non radio controlled) available for visitors to play with, for a small fee.

Model Engineering

An extensive two-track rail system meanders through their gardens, replicating in miniature the sights and sounds of classic steam and diesel from days past. The trains are full working models and operate to take passenger rides for a small fee.
The trains used to pull the passenger carriages are fully working miniature trains, the steam trains boilers have been pressure tested and certified, the train drivers also need to be qualified and certified before being allowed to take passenger rides.
If anyone is interested in getting into model engineering, operating miniature trains or helping run the miniature Railway they are welcome to talk to MAMS members about joining MAMS.
